Season 1
Occasionally, Pee-wee would check to see what the ants were up to; a short close-up sequence would follow which featured the ants engaging in some “human” activity. In the episode Tons of Fun, Cowboy Curtis walked over to the ant farm, remarking he liked to see what they were up to, and said, “Them rascals sure do tickle my funny bone!”
On one occasion, they actually managed to get out of the farm.
In Season 2-5, the ant farm is located near the Scooter Eject. Sometimes they can be seen screaming for any secret word.
